Preity Zinta was born to an Army officer.
Being an army kid he inculcated hard work & discipline in the coursework of her childhood. He did her schooling in Shimla. In school he liked literature & was a keen basketball player. Regrettably he faced trauma early in life when he lost her father in a automobile accident & her father was seriously injured. Preity Zinta braved life together with her brothers. He went on to do a degree with English honours & another coursework in psychology. He had also started modeling then. He was seen in the commercial for Perk. Her success landed her with lots of assignments & made her a celebrity in the modeling fraternity. He then met Shekhar Kapoor who recommended her to Mani Ratnam for a role in Dil Se. The next success for Preity Zinta was Kya Kehna in which he played the role of a single brother. The theme was bold and ahead of its time. Preity ZintaĆ¢s role where in he fights the society was well appreciated. It also developed build her picture as a woman of substance. Her next film in 2000 was Mission Kashmir with Hrithik Roshan. Her role of a TV reporter was loved by Bollywood fans. It was a huge hit and fully established Preity Zinta as a tremendous star. They say nothing succeeds like success. Closely on the heels of Mission Kashmir came Dil Chahta Hai. Although it was a male predominant film her role provided a graceful touch to this pretty film by Farhan Akhtar. Chori Chori Chupke Chupke introduced the most challenging role to Preity Zinta. He had to play the prostitute who gets hired as a surrogate brother. Preity Zinta played this difficult role with fabulous ease and proved her versatility. He won the Filmfare Best Supporting Actress Award for the film.

The launch opposite Shahrukh Khan in a Mani Ratnam film was a matchless formula for success. He looked lovely and danced gracefully to win the Filmfare Best Debut Award. Incidentally he also won the award for Soldier opposite Bobby Deol in which he plays a glamorous role. Both the flicks were hits and had firmly established Preity Zinta as an actress to think.The string of hits by this actress never stopped thereafter. He played the reel Barkha Dutt in Lakshya. Veer Zaara was the largest hit of 2004 with an brilliant role of a Pakistani girl by Preity Zinta. Salaam Namaste produced by Aditya Chopra & Yash Chopra along with Saif Ali Khan provided the tremendous hit of 2005 which reminded of her role in Kya Kehna. Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna along with Rani Mukerji & Amitabh Bachchan & directed by Karan Johar in 2006 was the icing on the cake. Success had by now become her second nature.

2002 was a comparatively dull year for Preity Zinta. It was followed by the incredible success of Koi Mil Gaya & Kal Ho Na Ho which is possibly the best film of her career till date. In Koi Mil Gaya he did a incredible role opposite Hrithik Roshan for which he was nominated for the Filmfare Best Actress Award which he finally won for Kal Ho Na Ho. This film was the high point of her career. He plays the role of an NRI girl who is trying to adjust her life in USA. Preity Zinta literally got in to the skin of the character. The film revolves around her & Shahrukh Khan which was a pleasant double. Preity Zinta provided the Midas touch to this film. It is said that this is of the most ideal movies ever. Preity Zinta had reached the high point of her career. Preity Zinta also played a vampish role in 2003 film 'Armaan'(co-starring with Amitabh Bachchan, Anil Kapoor, Gracy Singh, & elderly generation actor Randhir Kapoor) & received a Filmfare nomination for Best Villain.Life has been swinging for this actress. With Ness Wadia he's sponsored the Mohali Cricket team in the IPL league. He's also acted in Rituparno Ghosh's English film The Last Lear, which premiered at the 2007 Toronto International Film Festival.

Preity Zinta has been equally frank, forthright & successful in her personal life. He was earlier linked with Mark Robinson. Thereafter there were allegations against her by Kavita Krsihnamurthy for ruining her marriage which turned out to be false. Her present Beau is the Bombay Dyeing owner Ness Wadia. Preity Zinta also was most courageous in the Bharat Shah case where in he was the only Bollywood star who gave a statement against the Underworld & did not back track in the court.
